‘Julius’ is bred at the Polli Horticultural Research Centre by Julius Eslon and Arthur Jaama. It is grown from the seed of open pollinated (1946) ‘Duke of Edinburgh’. Registed as new cultivar since 22.03.2004.

Ripening time: early midseason.

Plum is large, oval. The skin is greenish yellow, overspread with brownish red. The flesh is yellow, soft, sweet and sour, very tasty, semifreestone.

Tree is medium vigorous, with an oval crown, a good bearer, partially self-fertile. Pollinizers are ‘Suhkruploom’ and ‘Queen Victoria’. Winter hardiness is weak. Disease resistance medium.
