‘Karmla’. The history of the pear is unknown. It may be an old cultivar of Western Europe, now obsolete. It was started to propagate in the 1950s on the Island of Saaremaa.
Autumn season cultivar: consumption period lasts for some weeks in September.
Fruit is medium to large, ovate pyriform. The ground colour is greenish yellow, the overcolour is brownish red. The flesh is yellowish white, fi rm, sweet and sour, with few grit cells. Resistance to pear scab is good.
Tree is vigorous, the young tree is upright, afterward spreading. Winter hardiness is intermediate.
