Pear - Kägi bergamott

Pear · Kägi bergamott

‘Kägi Bergamott’ is bred by Jüri Kägi in the Metsküla village in the Läänemaa county. The seeds were gathered of a pear tree of the Matsalu landed estate presumably at the end of the 19th century.

Autumn season cultivar: ripens at the beginning of September and stores 5–10 days.

Fruit is small, globose (bergamotte-type). The greenish yellow ground colour is covered with gentle red stripes. The flesh is firm, sweet, without grit cells. Resistant to pear scab.

Tree is vigorous, rather precocious, shoots grow at a good angle from the stem. Winter hardy.
