Kaspar

Sweet cherry

Prunus avium L.

‘Kaspar’ is bred at the Polli Horticultural Research Centre by Kalju Kask. It is grown from the seed of open pollinated (1965) ‘Norri’. Registed as new cultivar since 26.01.2011.

Ripening time: midseason.

Cherry is medium, heart shaped. The skin is reddish black. The flesh is dark red, medium firm, juicy, sweet and sour, tasty. The juice is dark red. The stone can be easily separated from the flesh.

Tree is medium vigorous, with spreading crown. A good bearer, self-unfruitful, pollinated by ‘Tõmmu’ and ‘Polli Murel’. Winter hardy. Disease resistance is good.
