Black currant

Ribes nigrum L.

‘Mulgi Must’. Bred by Johannes Parksepp. The cross made in 1956: ‘Polli Pikk-kobar’ × ‘Uus must’.

Fruit: midseason, black, glossy, medium, berries in medium clusters with medium density, rather thin skin, good berry separation from clusters, good quality for dessert and processing.

Bush: rather high, upright-spreading, producing shoots moderately. Winter hardy and medium yielding; in the last years turning rather susceptible to mildew and black currant gall mite.
